Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)

Baby Head in Mother Hands. Mum holding Newborn Boy lying on White Blanket. Infant Health C

Newborns come into this world under a lot of physical pressure from the uterus during labor and delivery.  Most newborns are able to miraculously adapt to the pressures.  For those babies struggling to adapt, OMT is a gentle way to help alleviate the pressure and help them thrive!

Happy Children

Some children have difficulties with frequent/chronic ear infections, learning difficulties, headaches and sometimes concussions.  OMT is a useful way to bring the body (and head especially) back into a balanced motion allowing children to continue to develop normally.

Balancing Rocks

Adults have a lifetime of accumulated trauma and wear & tear.  Although OMT cannot fix arthritis, it can help the compensatory changes that occur.  OMT is most helpful for acute pain that is not from a fracture or damaged tissue such as rib/back/neck/buttocks/pelvic pain, headaches.  Also helpful for respiratory conditions from asthma to upper respiratory infection, COPD and pneumonia.

Expecting pregnancy

Pregnant patients have their own special set of circumstances that can benefit from OMT due to changes in center of gravity from the enlarging uterus causing strain on the lower and upper back neck and ribs.

Dr. Gilman is a genuine, down-to-earth physician who cares deeply about her patients.  She offers Osteopathic Manipulative Treatments (OMT) because this is what she loves to do.  OMT helps her connect to patients through the social interaction as well as physically through touch.   By feeling restrictions in patient's bodies, she can then gently facilitate more ease of motion and improved function, which often correlates with decreased pain.

In her free time, Dr. Gilman has developed a passion for reclaiming the land from the invasive Oriental Bittersweet vine and nurturing the growth of native plants, attracting beneficial insects and birds.
